The presenter is Steven E. Brown of Drumhead Enterprises, whose “BONK!” program has introduced children to percussion instruments from around the world at Ocean County Library branches and at other New Jersey libraries.

Participants in the one-hour program will share drums and percussive instruments, receive instruction in basic techniques, and have the chance create rhythm patterns and “lead” the group. Attendees are welcome to bring percussion instruments of their own.

Participants will also learn simple volume and speed dynamics, take part in a rhythm memory game, and create an imaginary “rain forest,” using percussion instruments to simulate the sounds of birds, animals and weather.

Please register at www.theoceancountylibrary.org/events for this free program, sponsored by the Ocean County Library Senior Services Department. For more information, visit or call any participating OCL Branch, or phone (732) 349-6200.
