The Ocean County Library will temporarily close to support the proactive measures being taken by the state of New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety Division of New Jersey State Police of Emergency Management Administrative Order No. 2020-3. Administrative Order No. 2020-03 was updated on March 20, 2020 (Executive Order No. 104). The following facilities have been added to the list of facilities closed to members of the public in accordance with paragraph 7 of Executive Order No. 104 (2020): all municipal, county and state public libraries, and all libraries and computer labs at public and private colleges and universities.

“Forbidden Planet” Radio Play Coming to Toms River Library

TOMS RIVER – The Toms River Branch of the Ocean County Library will host “Raconteur Radio: Forbidden Planet” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22.

Raconteur Radio stages theatrical presentations of vintage radio plays, classic works of literature, and pop culture parodies throughout the Tri-State area. Their productions feature theatrical lighting, period costumes, vintage commercials, Golden Age radio equipment, and extensive sound effects.

The original “Forbidden Planet” is a 1956 science fiction film by director Fred M. Wilcox, starring Walter Pidgeon, Anne Francis, and Leslie Nielsen.

This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Ocean County Library – Toms River.
