Artist Catherine LeCleire to Display “Nature at Its Best” at Ocean County Library Barnegat Branch

November 04, 2022

BARNEGAT – The Ocean County Library Barnegat Branch is pleased to present Catherine LeCleire’s intriguing interpretations of the great outdoors, “Nature at Its Best,” November 11 through December 31.

The silkscreen specialist has exhibited throughout the world. Her works reside at William Paterson University, Lafayette College, Printmaking Center of New Jersey, Brooklyn Museum, West Virginia’s Huntington Museum of Art, and Baku Museum in Azerbaijan.

“Printmaking, and silkscreen in particular, offer an innovative technique of repetition and manipulation of transparencies and opacities of colors,” Catherine said. “The combination of nature and visual energy underlie the images connecting abstraction to the natural world… In some cases, it forces one to think of the ecological consequences that we as humans have on nature.”

The Philadelphia College of Art and University of Southern California alumna teaches silkscreen, print making, book arts, and photo print making at Montclair State University, and instructs silkscreen and painting processes at New York City’s Pratt Institute.

Also a professional bookbinder, Catherine has been called upon by authors including Bruce Connor, David Salle, James Brown, Octavio Paz, Joan Mitchell, Janet Taylor Pickett, Mona Brody, and Donna Moran.

Registration is not required to view this free exhibit, which can be viewed during regular Branch operating hours. For more information, visit the Barnegat Branch, 112 Burr Street, or call (609) 698-3331.
