Artwork by Lizz Winona on Display at Toms River Library

October 03, 2018

TOMS RIVER – The Toms River Branch of the Ocean County Library is hosting “SOON”, a month-long exhibit by artist Lizz Winona. The collection is displayed in the McConnell Gallery of the Toms River Branch throughout October.

“SOON” consists of photographic artwork.

Lizz Winona started as a self-taught artist. She studied at Peters Valley School of Craft where her work is now part of the permanent collection.

“I use photography as a way to explore the world around me. Not only can photography capture what is there, but also what is not. The “SOON” series began several years ago as a way to explore fear in myself and in others. If a scene elicits fear, I often confront that feeling and, wondering why it’s there, use a series of figures to embody that which cannot always be put into words,” says Winona.

The branch is located at 101 Washington Street.

“SOON” is free and open to the public. For more information, call 732-349-6200, ext. 5100, or visit theoceancountylibrary.org.
