Author Duo Comes To Toms River Library

September 22, 2017

TOMS RIVER – The Toms River Branch of the Ocean County Library will host two talented authors at 2 pm, Saturday, Oct. 7. Carmine Appice, a legendary drummer for Vanilla Fudge, Cactus, Beck, Bogert & Appice, will join musician, corporate executive, and screenwriter Jon D’Amore.

Appice will regale stories from his memoir, “STICK IT! My Life Of Sex, Drums And Rock ‘N’ Roll.” Appice co-wrote two of singer Rod Stewart’s biggest hit songs, “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy” and “Young Turks.”

Stewart wrote the foreword for Appice’s book which states, “Carmine played in my band from the mid-seventies through to the early eighties. I had liked his previous groups, Vanilla Fudge and Cactus. He was in my band because I found him to be a brilliant drummer. And he wouldn’t have been there if he wasn’t special.”

D’Amore, the bestselling author of “The Boss Always Sits In The Back – A Memoir” recently wrote “Deadfellas,” the story of four New Jersey mobsters sent to a small Nevada town to find out why ‘the family’s’ casino is losing money. They take the casino manager to a secluded cabin used for the family’s mob executions and unknowingly, invoke an ancient Shoshone curse, awakening the buried dead to hunt them down. It’s mobsters versus monsters when the four wind up in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“D’Amore has seasoned the sauce with ancient Indian curses and a liberal helping of the undead. Every mouthful of this delicious mob/zombie fusion will satisfy your craving for extra helpings,” said Steven W. Booth, co-author of “The Hungry Zombie” series.

Copies of both books will be available for sale and signing at the event located at 101 Washington St. Toms River. The program is free but registration is required. To register, call 732-349-6200 or visit theoceancountylibrary.org.

Parking is free on weekends at the Toms River parking garage located behind the library and in the Ocean County parking garage on Hooper Avenue.
