September 15, 2017

TOMS RIVER – Local author Eric San Juan will examine the themes and characters of popular horror show “The Walking Dead” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12 at the Toms River Library, 101 Washington St.

“The Walking Dead” is a popular AMC network series that began in 2010 and spawned a spinoff series, “Fear the Walking Dead” and is based on a comic book series. Both shows concern survival following a zombie apocalypse on the outskirts of Atlanta.

Zombies, (referred to as walkers) feed on the living, and the lead characters are constantly moving to safer locations to survive. The show will start its 8th season on Oct 22.

Juan also wrote the book “Breaking Down Breaking Bad” which examined another popular AMC series, “Breaking Bad” which ended in 2013.

During the author’s program “Dissecting The Walking Dead,” he will discuss the characters that have appeared in the series, the manner in which storylines diverged from the comic book and what has made the show so popular.

The author will sign copies of his book which will be available for purchase. This event is free but registration is required. To register, call the branch at 732-349-6200 or visit theoceancountylibrary.org.
