Auto-Renewals Coming to the Ocean County Library

April 24, 2019

TOMS RIVER – The Ocean County Library is excited to announce they now offer auto-renewals. All eligible items will auto-renew on your account and there is no need to sign up for this new service.

The new due date will be extended from the original due date, adding another loan period. Eligible items may be renewed up to two times.

Patrons will receive notice of item auto-renewal 2 days prior to the due date. New due dates will be based on the original due date and loan period.

The following are reasons why an item will not auto-renew:

The items are digital materials (Hoopla, Overdrive, eBooks, eAudiobooks, etc.)

The patron account is expired or will expire before the new due date

Existing fines are over $24.99

There are holds on the item and no items available to fill the void

The loan period is less than the number of days set for the overdue notice

Due to varied loan periods, even if the patron does not receive a notice, eligible items will still auto-renew.

Patrons may not receive a notice every time an auto-renew occurs because there are 9 days between notices.
