Basics Of Surf Fishing And Knot Tying Coming To LBI Library

LONG BEACH ISLAND – Unravel the mystery behind surf fishing and the methods behind it during three programs being held at the Ocean County Library’s Long Beach Island Branch, 217 S. Central Ave. in Surf City.

“Surf Fishing 101: Parts I and II” will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, June 12 and 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 14. Surf fishing expert John Sweet will discuss what gear and bait to use in our local waters. This program will also include insight to the New Jersey saltwater fishing rules and regulations.

Sweet will return 7 p.m. Monday, June 19 to present an “Introduction to Fishing Knots & Rig-Making.” Attendees will learn how to tie basic fishing rigs and how to join lines. Participants are asked to bring a spool of 30 lb. test monofilament (no braided lines), a pair of needle-nose pliers and a fingernail clipper.
