Featured Events Coming to Manchester Library in May

MANCHESTER – The Manchester Branch of the Ocean County Library will host several featured events for adults in the month of May.

“Make a Mug-Cake Mother’s Day Gift” 2 p.m. Monday, May 6. Instructions and a recipe will be provided for a tasty treat to give to someone special or keep for yourself. Participants will package non-perishable ingredients into a decorated coffee mug decorated by participants.

“Art Reception for Naomi Webb” 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11. Meet local quilter Naomi Webb, listen to her discuss her work, and share refreshments. Attendees can also view her exhibit during regular business hours whenever the meeting room is available. No registration required but calling the library beforehand is recommended.

“D-Day - The Longest Walk: The Battle that Changed the World” 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 15. The allied forces launched the largest sea invasion in history on June 6, 1944. Paul Zigo, the Director of the World War II Era Studies Institute, will lead a riveting discussion of the battle that changed the course of history.

“Book Origami” 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 22. Learn how to fold the pages of discarded books to create art. Participants will learn how to make a heart-shaped sculpture.

“Computer Basics” 10 a.m. Thursday, May 23. This class for the absolute beginner will familiarize you with basic computer skills and terminology. Laptop computers will be provided.

The branch is located at 21 Colonial Drive.
