MANCHESTER – The Manchester Branch of the Ocean County Library will host a variety of events throughout the month of June.

“How to Break Up with Your Clutter” 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 4. Need to declutter? Organizing specialist Jamie Novak will teach you how to let go of things you no longer use. Novak puts a humorous spin on overcoming obstacles to getting organized, and is a bestselling author of books on decluttering and organizing.

“Create Flower Cocktails for Your June Celebrations” 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 5. Local florist Tracy Vincent from Whiting Flower Shoppe will instruct adults on making floral arrangements which look like margaritas and daiquiris using seasonal live flowers. Each participant may take their project home. All materials will be supplied. This program is made possible by a donation from the Friends of the Manchester Branch.

“Art Reception for Itzie Kenmuir” 2 p.m. Saturday, June 8. Meet local painter Itzie Kenmuir, whose still-life and landscape oil paintings will be on display in the library’s meeting room throughout June. Refreshments will be provided. No registration is required for this event.

“Brain Health as You Age” 2 p.m. Monday, June 10. Find out what can be done to protect your brain health at any age. This program will be presented by Abujhit Chatterjee, M.D., a specialist in geriatric medicine.

“Learn How to Use Hoopla and Kanopy” 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 11. Library staff will show how to download free movies, documentaries, music, eBooks, audiobooks, and comic books to your computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. Participants must bring their device and Ocean County Library card.

“Make a Rainbow Sun Catcher to Show Your Pride” 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 12. Show support for LGBTQ Awareness Month by making a rainbow craft. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Manchester Branch. No registration is required for this event.

“Marc Black’s History of the 50s and 60s through Popular Song” 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 18. New York Blues Hall of Fame inductee Marc Black will give a multimedia presentation on music of the 50s and 60s, filled with song, storytelling, and humor. No registration is required for this event.

“Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation” 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 20. Learn what meditation is, its benefits and techniques, and how to de-stress and enter a conscious state of awareness. Various meditation exercises will be practiced and helpful insights and tips will be shared.

The branch is located at 21 Colonial Drive.

Library customers are also encouraged to sign up for the summer reading program, which begins June 1. Sign up online, call, or visit the library. Participants must read or listen to five or more books to be entered to win a prize.
