September 16, 2021

TOMS RIVER – Celebrating the success of her first adult-oriented novel, If The Shoe Fits, Julie Murphy will take part in the Ocean County Library’s “Dive Into YA: It’s Not Just for Teens” virtual discussion series at 6 PM Thursday, September 30.

The series aims to show how real issues, vivid writing, diverse characters and imaginative concepts broaden the appeal of writers primarily known in the Young Adult genre.

The New York Times best-selling author rocketed to fame with Dumplin’, which was adapted into a Netflix motion picture and bred two related works, Puddin’ and Pumpkin.

Murphy’s second graphic novel featuring the popular character Faith Herbert, Faith: Greater Heights, is due this November.

The Texas-based writer has also authored Dear Sweet Pea, Ramona Blue, and Side Effects May Vary. Her work appears in eight anthologies.

The series is presented in partnership with Booktowne, Manasquan, NJ. Attendees will receive a 10% discount for Booktowne that can be used through their website.
