Manchester Library to Host Monthly Adult Activities in December

MANCHESTER – The Manchester Branch of the Ocean County Library will host a variety of regularly held activities throughout the month of December.

  • “Writer’s Circle” 2 p.m. Tuesdays, Dec. 3 and 17. Critique one another’s work and discuss issues pertinent to authorship and getting published. Registration is not required.
  • “Wednesday Movies” 6 p.m. Wednesdays, Dec. 4, 11, and 18. See films on the big screen without the admission fee of a movie theater. There will be no movie on Dec. 25. Visit theoceancountylibrary.org/events or call 732-657-7600 for film information. Registration is not required.
  • “Chess Club” 12 p.m. Fridays, Dec. 6, 13, 20, and 27. Play chess in a relaxed atmosphere and share your love for the game with beginners. Participants should bring their own game set. Registration is not required.
  • “Brain Games for Adults” 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6. Exercise your mind and keep your thinking sharp with games, puzzles, and other activities.
  • “Advanced French Club” 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9. This conversation-based group is for intermediate and advanced French language learners. Discuss topical events in French, read and discuss French texts, and engage in other French-oriented activities.
  • “Chicks with Sticks” 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12 and 26. Participants work on individual knitting and crocheting projects while sharing ideas and friendship. Registration is not required.
  • “Quilting Bee” 1 p.m. Fridays, Dec. 13 and 27. Work on individual and group projects while exchanging ideas, patterns, techniques, and conversation. Registration is not required.
  • “Book Chat” 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19. Discuss what you have been reading with the rest of the group and pick up ideas for what to read next. Registration is not required.
  • “Calming Coloring” 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20. Spend a relaxing afternoon creating, listening to soothing music, and relaxing with likeminded adults at the library. Coloring sheets, pencils, markers, and crayons will be supplied free of charge. Chocolate, aromatherapy, and a therapy dog may also be provided for additional de-stressing.

The branch is located at 21 Colonial Drive.
