Ocean County Library Tuckerton Branch to Present Virtual Seminar on Racial Education

TUCKERTON – The Ocean County Library Tuckerton Branch will present a virtual seminar by Stockton University Professor Donnetrice Allison, Ph.D., “Racial Education, Self-Care and Unmasking Micro-Aggressions,” 7 PM Monday, April 18. 

Dr. Allison, Chairperson of Stockton’s Africana Studies Department, will define and discuss race, racism, anti-racism, social construct, critical race theory, micro-aggression, and self-care. She will conduct a group activity, discuss paths to healing and activism, and engage in a question-and-answer period. 

The presentation will include physical, mental, and psychological effects that racial discrimination and micro-aggressive behaviors impose on receivers and the social climates in which they function. Dr. Allison will explain how healing and activism can produce positive change.
