Regular Events Coming to Manchester Library in November

MANCHESTER – The Manchester Branch of the Ocean County Library will host its regularly held events throughout the month of November.

  • “Chess Club” 12 p.m. Fridays, Nov. 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29. Play chess in a relaxed atmosphere and share your love for the game with beginners. Participants may bring their own game set. Registration is not required.
  • “Writers’ Circle” 2 p.m. Tuesdays, Nov. 5 and 19. Critique one another’s work and discuss issues pertinent to authorship and getting published. Registration is not required. 
  • “Wednesday Movies” 6 p.m. Wednesdays, Nov. 6, 13, and 20. See a movie on the big screen without the admission fee of a movie theater. Call the branch at 732-657-7600 or visit theoceancountylibrary.org/events for film information. Registration is not required. There will be no movie on Wednesday, Nov. 27.
  • “Quilting Bee” 1 p.m. Fridays, Nov. 8 and 22. Members work on individual and group projects while exchanging ideas, patterns, techniques, and conversation. Registration is not required.
  • “Advanced French Club” 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11. This conversation-based group for advanced and intermediate learners will discuss topical events in French, read and discuss French texts, and engage in other French-oriented activities. It is geared toward individuals who are more fluent in the language.
  • “Intermediate French Club” 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12. Improve your understanding of the French language, including vocabulary, grammar, and basic conversation with the help of a French-American librarian.
  • “Chicks with Sticks’ 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14. Participants will work on individual knitting and crocheting projects while sharing ideas, patterns, and friendship.
  • “Calming Coloring” 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15. Spend a relaxing afternoon creating, listening to soothing music, and relaxing with likeminded adults at the library. Coloring sheets, pencils, markers, and crayons will be provided. This event sometimes features aromatherapy and a therapy dog for additional de-stressing.
  • “Book Chat” 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21. Participants will discuss what they have been reading with the rest of the group and pick up ideas for what to read next. Registration is not required.

The branch is located at 21 Colonial Drive.
