All branches of the Ocean County Library will be closed Friday, March 29, for Good Friday, and Sunday, March 31, for Easter Sunday.

Young People Are Invited to “Meet the Music” At Toms River Library

TOMS RIVER – The Ocean County Library, Toms River Branch will host “Meet the Music,” a series of fun, hands-on musical adventures for young people, in March, April and May.

“Meet the Music” aims to acquaint children age 6 to 12 and their families with the brass, woodwind and string families of orchestras. Members of the Garden State Philharmonic and the Garden State Philharmonic Youth Orchestra will perform.

After each performance, children and their families will have the chance to touch and play the featured instruments.

  • The Wild Winds, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Mar. 17. Woodwind and Brass instruments including flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, French horn and tuba.
  • The Singing Strings, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Apr. 21. String instruments including violin, viola, cello and bass.
  • Garden State Philharmonic Youth Orchestra Performance, 6:30 p.m.Tuesday, May 19. Enjoy a recital by high schoolers, and meet them afterwards.

The series is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Greater Toms River and presented in partnership with the Ocean County Library, Garden State Philharmonic, and Music & Arts of Toms River.
